Hi everyone! My name is Liz, and I am the new Community Manager for Stunlock Studios and Battlerite. Chris mentioned a couple weeks ago in his last entry that there would be some Dev Blog Lites, and that’s why I’m here! I figured this was as good a time as any to introduce myself, as I’ll be interacting with everyone a lot more in the near future. Chris won’t be vanishing completely though, he’ll still be hanging around and responding to questions as more of a liaison directly between the developers and the community.

So, about me:

First of all, I started off interning with Heroes of Newerth and later worked for the esports team compLexity Gaming. I bopped around to a couple states until I ended up in California, and Stunlock hired me about a year later. Recently I filled out my work permit application and will be moving to Sweden within the next few months.

This is my first time doing anything close to Community Management and I don’t expect to instantly be perfect at my job – but I love talking to and helping people, I’m super excited to be a part of the community, and I’m constantly thinking of ways for you to have fun. I’m really here for you guys, and rest assured that I do pay attention to reddit and the steam forums. I have a nice little (giant) list ready for the team on stuff you all have talked about while they were away on vacation and I’m sure all of them will appreciate it 🙂

I love things that are fun and silly, and I’m hoping to bring that to events in the future. If you have noticed the smaller, weekly tournaments going on in the Brazilian, French, and Russian scenes – I’m hoping to bring them to NA and EU as well.

For right now, while I’m working remotely, I’m managing a lot of the Social Media and responding to people’s messages while making some rough plans and keeping an eye on the community. Once I get to Sweden I expect to be really diving into work and getting my hands dirty.

Other important facts:

  • Cats, tea, and hiking are some of my favorite things
  • Jade, Ashka, and Ezmo are so far my favorite Champions
  • I inhabit what I call “Sleeper League” – the League where everyone asks me if I’m asleep while I’m playing (I promise I’m not, I’m just terrible at games that require a lot of mechanical skill)
  • Rocket Balloon Brawl has been my jam – and Raigon the bane of my existence

That’s all I can think of at the moment about me. If there’s a reddit post of this, feel free to ask any other questions – I’m a new face and I know that can take some getting used to. I’ll pop in and out over the next couple days and give some answers. It warms my heart to see people welcoming to new players, and I want to take a moment and thank everyone for that. I can only hope to receive as warm a welcome, and promise to work hard for you to grow this already great community.

Short post but, well, it’s called Dev Blog “Lite” for a reason!

See you in the Arena!

– Liz
